great atmosphere, excellent staff!
My 1st experience staying there was a fantastic time. The staff was so accommodating from check in to getting my 1st drink at the cabana bar from a very silly and warm hearted bartender Larry. The place is exceptionally clean. They go 24/7 keeping up with it too! I most definitely would return. I wish to thank them all for a memorable stay.
Loud and dirty
When we pulled up to the lobby, we knew we were in for trouble. The lobby was filled with weird art, printers, junk, and brochures. While we weren't expecting a high end resort, we did expect a little class. We booked a weekend at the Flaming O for a friends birthday, and it happened to coincide with a Leather Event. Our door facing the pool was 10 feet away from the stage for the event, So it was loud, all day long, and night. This definitely was a discount hotel, no remote, no hangers, no iron, and the queen sheets on our king bed didn't fit. The pillows were like bags of Kleenex so we ended up going to Walmart down the street and bought our own. The carpets were filthy. The stairs to the jacuzzi tub were missing tiles. I think the main bar doubles as a restaurant, but there were several food options nearby. The bars on property were well staffed and stocked. The Code bar was especially fun. The owners should definitely watch a couple episodes of "Hotel Impossible" to see how to effectively turn this place into the "fun gay" hotel they are advertising.

May be a big gay resort, but proves that size is not everything!
Place clearly betrays its origins as a third-tier strip motel. Rooms, while (mostly) clean by a fairly diligent house staff, reveal a "decor' that is inconsistent and wildly dated (have not seen that shade of faux maple on dressers since the fifties, and the look here is decidedly NOT "retro"). Bar on the pool deck does not allow charging to the rooms....loud music to 2:00 AM betrayed our stupid decision to book a pool view room instead of a view of the parking lot. The band played on despite the lack of a crowd. Place seems to be a nice friendly place for locals to hang out (including drunk lesbians going topless poolside), but those folks clearly do not experience the glories of the dated decor, non-working TV remotes, inconsistent information about cable TV choices, clogged tubs, stained carpet and inadequate internet access (I ended up using my mobile hot spot with my cellphone....). as for the "larger environment", the vending machines did not work (a way to encourage buying expensive drinks at the bar?) and we never did find the ice machine.... Next time my bf and I go to SP, we'll explore the world of B and B's...
